We’ve worked for people from all walks of life. Some requiring high-end new builds; some wanting to build forever family homes; challenging restorations or inspiring renovations. And on-trend bespoke commercial builds.

We greatly appreciate that some of our clients have taken the time to express their thanks and appreciation in writing.

“The experience of Johnny Collett and the crew building at our place was one to remember. We tried to impress each other with extramural creative and extravagant ideas, but then we built them – well, Scotty did! While Johnny and the team are a pleasure to have onsite, their workmanship is second to none and the result is a pleasure to live with.”

We used JE Collett Builders to repair our earthquake damaged home after cash settling with EQC.

Jonny was instrumental in helping us resolve our stalled claim and it was great to finally get the project off the ground after waiting for over four years. We found Jonny and his team very approachable, friendly and helpful. They protected our house during the process and we always felt we were in good hands.

During the repair process we took the opportunity to address some weather tightness issues and make some improvements. JE Collett builders and their subcontractors did a great job and have left us a home that we are proud of.

We have no hesitation in recommending Jonny and his team for repairs or new builds and we will definitely use them again in the future.

We have had an ongoing business connection with this Company and it’s principal Jonny Collett since our house went under repair in 2012 following the Canterbury earthquakes. J E Collett Builders Ltd was a contractor to the repair. The majority of the planning of the work schedule and the construction at a very important time of the contract was managed on site by Jonny Collett.

The residence a hill property double story 380 m2 weatherboard residence built 1928, on Hackthorne Road Cashmere was seriously/ heavily compromised in foundation including the rim that required replacement over the front portion of the house, and by falling masonry internally. The house was gutted to address the wracking of the internal walls and ceiling. A major section of wall was replaced with steel trussing installed to steady and support the second level The damaged slate roof was removed and replaced. The House was replied in part to re-level. There was a total relining and strengthen of the interior walls, ceilings installation and rebuild of artificial chimneys followed.

To Complete the project in 2014, major reconstruction of retaining walls and a 90 m2 external deck and balustrades on the north western boundary Jonny and team returned for.

On completion the house had superior presentation with additional improvements with new kitchen and open plan living.

We found Jonny to be very approachable with his team working well towards achieving this exceptional and much admired result always within the scope of the rebuild plan. Where variations were encountered either on behalf of the owners or through additional work to meet code of compliance issues ,the communication was first rate. Advice was given as to how we could proceed to overcome issues, this proved very helpful.

Specifically the staff were well managed and the foreman was very responsible for seeing their performance and that of the subcontractors was up to and above the standard required. At all times we were kept in the loop with good communication as to what was happening on site and when our inputs were sought they were taken on board.

We have seen the company grow significantly over the time we have been using the services, have recommended Jonny to others seeking building services.

Yours truly,
